Lance Armstrong: why didn't we just look away?

Are legends meant to be shattered;
Father Christmas - by ten years of
Age you know the truth; tooth fairy,
Once you understand the value of
Money the fairy disappears; and now
Lance Armstrong, gone is the greatest
Cycling legend of all time, gone is
Motivation, the tours he conquered,
The lives he touched; would it have
Been proper to just turn and look
The other way... I held his book the
Other day, and thought to myself,
Sometimes a man does bad things
For the good of remaining the
Peoples loved one; For that pinnacle
Is his burden to always be the
Greatest and to always conquer for
Our joy, and lustful expectations.
